Introducing SheAfriSTEMENA Changemakers

Every movement begins with a story — and every story begins with a voice that refuses to be silent.

Across Africa and the Middle East, women in science are not only advancing discovery — they are reshaping what it means to lead, to question, and to imagine a better world. Their brilliance has long illuminated classrooms, laboratories, and communities, even when their names rarely appeared in the spotlight.

At SheAfriSTEMENA, we believe these voices deserve to be heard, honored, and remembered.

Changemakers is our new interview series dedicated to celebrating the women who are transforming science and society — one breakthrough, one classroom, one idea at a time.

Each conversation is an intimate portrait — of resilience, intellect, and humanity. Through their stories, we explore how women across the continent and the MENA region are bridging knowledge and compassion, turning data into change, and proving that science can be both rigorous and deeply human.

This series is a tribute to their journeys — to the ones who paved the way and those still carving new paths. It is also an invitation: to listen, to learn, and to celebrate the power of women’s voices in shaping a more equitable scientific future.

In highlighting these stories, we hope to build more than an archive. We hope to spark a movement — one that reminds every girl in a lab, every woman with a dream, that she belongs in the story of science.

Because when women rise in STEM, societies rise with them
