SheAfriSTEMena is a platform dedicated to amplifying the voices, journeys, and brilliance of women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) across Africa and the MENA region — and to creating real opportunities where none exist.

We believe that women in our region are not just participating in science — they are leading it. From classrooms to coding labs, research institutes to rural schools, women and girls are pushing boundaries, challenging systems, and transforming futures. But too often, their stories go untold, and their paths remain blocked.

🌍 Why SheAfriSTEMena Exists

SheAfriSTEMena was born from a simple truth: representation is not enough.

What women and girls in STEM across Africa and the Middle East need is access, equity, and real support.

In many parts of our region, they still face:

  • Structural and cultural barriers
  • Limited access to mentorship, funding, and leadership
  • Isolation, underrepresentation, and a lack of visibility

SheAfriSTEMena exists to change that.

We are here to:

  • Make voices heard
  • Break down barriers
  • Create space for opportunity, creativity, and connection

We stand for:

  • Visibility — sharing stories, research, and lived experiences
  • Access — highlighting mentorships, programs, and open doors
  • Equity — challenging the systems that hold women back
  • Inspiration — igniting the next generation through truth and community

👩‍🔬 What We Do

At SheAfriSTEMena, we work to:

  • Create mentorship opportunities for students and young professionals
  • Run STEM discovery programs and workshops for girls
  • Develop fun, hands-on STEM projects and resources for kids and families
  • Build an intergenerational community of women supporting each other across borders and disciplines

🤝 Who We Are

SheAfriSTEMena was founded by S. Maarouf, a Moroccan researcher and advocate passionate about gender equity in science, inclusive education, and storytelling. As a woman in STEM, she believes in the transformative power of presence, voice, and solidarity.
